Google has announced a new Google One subscription plan for those looking for an affordable storage solution: Google One Lite. However, this new plan is currently only available to a limited number of users in India. Here are the details of the subscription system and our predictions on whether it will come to other countries…
Google One Lite is only available in India for now
Google One Lite offers 30GB of additional storage for as little as INR 59 per month. This space can be used across Google services like Drive, Photos, and Gmail. However, Lite doesn’t offer the additional perks found in Google One’s other plans, such as family sharing, priority support, or cashback on Google Store purchases. Additionally, there’s no trial version of the Magic Eraser feature.
In comparison, Google One’s Basic plan offers 100GB of storage and family sharing support for INR 130 per month in India. The new Lite plan, while almost half the price, offers less than half the storage and no other benefits.
Google is currently offering its new Google One Lite plan only to select Google account holders, aiming to gather feedback from a wider audience. Depending on the feedback received, the plan could be expanded or cancelled altogether. In an effort to attract new subscribers, Google is also offering a one-month trial.
The Google One Lite plan might be the best option for users who only use Gmail and Drive and aren’t interested in other Google services. Let’s see if Google will add other regions to the program as a pilot after India.
